Allen Kirsch is a retired K9 officer and police dog trainer with over 15 years of experience competing, working, and training dogs. He has trained K9 teams in explosive detection, basic and advanced obedience, agility, canine patrol, tracking, scent detection, building search and evidence search. He is also a lifelong dog owner who has experience raising German shepherd and Standard Poodle puppies. He came to us in the summer of 2019 with an interest in sharing his experience with others and help them learn how to have a well-mannered dog.
“I began looking for ideas to train dogs privately shortly after I retired in July, 2019. I came to find Best Friends Dog Training on a web search and after reading the owner, Frank Bonomo’s bio, I said to myself, “this is the guy I need to be working with.” Frank has an extraordinary background with dogs and is a wealth of knowledge. He helped me to advance as a trainer and taught me new ideas to excel with training dogs.”
Allen is an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. He is also a certified judge and trainer for the United States Police Canine Association. Allen has received numerous first place awards with the USPCA for K9 obedience and agility as well as first place team at the 2019 USPCA National Detector Dog Trials. Allen has performed K9 demonstrations for school children of all ages as well as K9 demonstrations for the AKC’s Meet the Breeds at the Jacob Javitz Center in NYC.
Allen lives in Port Jefferson with his wife and two teenage children along with Sentry, his retired K9 dog, a Standard Poodle named Lucy, a rescued cat and 5 chickens. Yes, they all get along.
